Post office, India is a government-run mail system in the form of a post, in India this process is commonly known as Post Office. The Postal Service is following the postal department, which is part of the Ministry of Communication and Information Technology, Government of India. The top body of the India Post GDS Recruitment department is the Postal Service Board, which includes the six members. India has been classified into 22 post offices, each circle is headed by a Chief Postmaster General. Each circle is divided into areas, which are headed by a postmaster general and in which field units are involved, which is called the division (headed by the SPPO and SPO). These units are further divided into subdivisions commanded by ASP and IPO. Other operative units (such as the Circle Stamp Depot, Postal Store Depot, and Mail Motor Service) may be present in the circles and areas. Apart from the 22 circles, there is a basic circle for providing postal services to the Armed Forces of India.

Educational & Other qualifications for direct recruits:
- Candidates have a Valid Driving License.
- Candidates must have Knowledge of Motor Mechanism.
- Candidates have Experience of driving in light & heavy motor vehicles for, at least three years.
- Candidates must have Pass in10th Standard from an approved board or institute
- Candidates must have three years of service as Home Guard or Civil Volunteers.
