As a result of the decisions taken by the government In 1985, the Sant Memorial Saint Santo Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology took its shape, to give a valuable, yet humble tribute. The Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology was established in 1989 by the Ministry of Human Resource and Development (MHRD), Government of India and was formally inaugurated on December 20, 1991. Accepting the new challenge of the new education policy, Saint Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology (SIET) was established with a vision to establish an international forum for the development and transfer of technical capacity in academics. It is committed to providing the best possible technical education and to emphasize technical manpower requirements with emphasis on practical training in the industry.
Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology is an autonomous body, which is fully funded by the Government of India and is controlled by the SLIET society registered under the Societies Registration Act, 1860. The institute gets its own certificate, diploma, undergraduate and postgraduate approved and approved by AICTE, New Delhi. Ph.D. programs have also been started after getting status as considered to be a university. Sant Longowal Institute of Engineering and Technology was prepared that in addition to meeting the requirements of formal education, the institute will work hard to prepare skilled and capable manpower for self-employment. Apart from this, the Institute will take up a strategic research and development activity that will help in expanding the efforts of the institute in providing education to entrepreneurship and unemployed people so that they can update and upgrade their technical skills. The institute was thought to be completing the existing 3-level system in the modern industry, in which workers, technicians, and engineers were included.
